Woman of the week: Angela Merkel

Every country around the world is suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic. This week we will look at the approaches which Angela Merkel has taken and the reason behind the creation of a headline as follows: “the secret to Germany’s Covid-19 success”. Angela Merkel, born in West Germany in 1954, later on, she became a brilliant student. She has obtained a doctorate in quantum chemistry and has shown her passion for this science field. Many economists and politicians believe that the background which she has, helped her to achieve outstanding outcomes during this pandemic in comparison with other countries. She has created a coordinated system of scientific and medical expertise around Germany that enables her to react quickly and efficiently to slow the spread of the virus. She has shown her strong character and empathy towards all the people suffering from this virus. Gaining people’s satisfaction and trust to make a collective society is one of her key strategies. Some words from her are as follow: “If we now allow more public life, in small steps, then it is very important that we can trace infections chains even better,” she said. “That must be our aim: to trace every infection chain.” A key variable to her success was looking at the reproduction factor of the virus and tracking it in the best way possible. She strongly shows that gender doesn’t play a role in the pursuit of power. In brief, she is an incredible role model for all the women around the world, showing how they can influence and develop a country in an extraordinary way. We can imitate her behaviour by believing in ourselves and understanding the path which this amazing leader has taken.
