The inspiring story of Send to Give

Today’s inspiring story is about Send to Give and more specifically the collaboration between Manon and Jo. But how did they really meet and ended up choosing this project? Manon, a French girl born and raised in Paris and studying her last year of bachelors at ESCP business school. After her studies in London she got super interested in sustainability and was stived to have a continuous positive impact on the society. Thus, she joined the ethos (organization of talks), that’s where she met Jo. Who is Jo? She is an artist, originally coming from Philippine, had obtained bachelor’s in psychology and master in sustainability.

What was the story behind the foundation, since every project has a starting point? Manon was feeling stuck in Germany during her last years of bachelors and felt helpless with the ongoing situation of pandemic. That is why she emailed Jo, after meeting her at the talk show and suggested to assist her.

They started Send to give project which aims to foster human connection by using creativity and creating values. Their main target were desperate women in Kenya and Philippine farmers. Providing reusable hygiene products, sanitary pads, soap and washing towels. By collaboration with a charity in Kenya they found links to feminist associations offering reusable hygiene products.

How does the project works? How can people contribute? Since Jo was an artist she was thinking to sell her own paintings and raise the fund, although it was a great idea, it was very tough to implement, specially due to the sever pandemic situation. Jo found a solution which was making postcards that is designed by her own paintings. Why postcards? During the pandemic era people feel lonely and are looking for a way to show gratitude and love to their family and loved ones. Postcards are the best fitted solution. Their project aims to present multicultural workforce and advocacy, showing that cultures can get hand in hand and help each other. Aren’t reusable products more difficult to deal with for women in Kenya than non-usable ones? They believed that regarding to the culture barriers, sustainable use and multi usage this is the best solution.

Despite the benefits this project made their founders to face numerous complications. The use of social media in order to get visibility was not an easy task and it required to use NGO’s and other businesses to solve the issue. What are the future plans? Send to give is aiming to collaborate with the startup incubator in berlin in order to create novel solutions for loneliness problem.
